Thank you & Happy New Year

Hello Everyone,

First and foremost I would like to thank everyone who has visited my blog throughout 2013 and I want to wish everyone a very *** HAPPY NEW YEAR *** and I wish you all a fabulous 2014.

I would also like to show you my first of two Thank you cards as inspired by Linda Coughlin with her bonus tags following her fantastic 12 tags of Christmas Challenge  click HERE for the details of this fabulous challenge, which has been extended until January 8th.  Please also click HERE to see Linda's Tag 1 which has inspired my post today.  I loved the way Linda's Jumbo tag was folded to make little cards.  My card was not made from a tag, but from white A4 card cut into 2 length ways, scored and folded to give a similar effect.
For this one I used Weathered Wood and Stormy sky DI to colour the background then the spritz and flick technique to lift some of the colour and give a pattern. For the doily I used the on the edge distressed doily die again with white card and coloured to co-ordinate glued this to the flap on one side of the card and glued the cut off 'waste' to the front.  The seam was hidden with a strip of beautiful lace and linen ribbon.
I needed to hold the flap down and wanted something simple, so I made a little snowflake decoration for a paperclip with shrink plastic and a card punched circle for support.  You can see how the flap lifts when the paperclip is removed.
Inside the card you can see I took the linen ribbon right over to add a bit of texture inside.  The background is also a little different from the outside as I inked through one of my new Tim Holtz stencils (splatters) to create this lovely effect.   I liked the way Linda kept the sentiment simple too and I used the same stamp set (simple sayings).  I used Wendy Vecchi Cornflower Blue on the frame as it was a darker blue and I wanted it to pop out as soon as the recipient opens it.
The 12 Tags Challenge is sponsored by the Funkie Junkie Boutique and is offering discounts for all who enter and comply by the rules,  please click Here to take a look for yourself at what this lovely on line shop has to offer.
Once again Thank you for your visit, I have one more Thank you card to be getting on with so will say bye bye for now and will be back soon with bonus tag 2.
Hugs Mo xx

  1. Oh Mo I simply LOVE this!! The delicate blue colour is so gorgeous and I really like the way you shaped it with the doily and then echoed that shape on the other side (if it makes sense what I am saying but you probably guess what I mean,,,) Really like the closure with the paperclip too, such a clever idea. Totally gorgeous take on Linda's original!

A very happy New Year to you too!!

  2. Mo, this is so beautiful, loving the soft blue colour, the beautiful edge shape and the gorgeous lace. The splatter stencil looks wonderful inside too. This has a wonderful feminine feel to it. A wonderful take on Linda's tag. Happy New Year to you too, hope to see you soon. Hugs, Anne x
